Winchester, in Te Wai Pounamu, lies between Temuka and Geraldine. We were recommended to breakfast at Mia Flora (FB link), a residence, garden shop and cafe. The food was good, the grounds lovely and the hospitality excellent.

Today I was out the door at 7 am to visit the supermarket, then spent the whole morning making muesli, mushroom soup and beef stew. Whew! To follow, some photos from our recent holiday.

It annoyed me while on holiday that the Sunrise/Sunset complication on my Apple Watch stopped working. I've finally fixed it thanks to Sunset / sunrise Apple Watch not working:

sunrise/sunset on AppleWatch comes from the “clock” app not the “weather” app. … go to settings>location services>clock> SELECT “while using app”

Also set Precise Location.

It flows slowly, the Waikawa River, but it's still a 'flower'. 🤣

The waves might be little in our barely moving air from the east, but they're still Pacific. For the Pacific Wave Appreciation Society. 🌊

Brooklyn 99 is perfect to (re)watch while I eat breakfast. Every single episode leaves me laughing.

This sounds bad — DOC spent nearly $500,000 to kill one stoat in Fiordland until we see this:

[Auckland University Professor of Conservation Biology, James Russell] said half a million dollars does sound like a lot of money but people should remember that DOC manages 33% of the country on half a percent of the government's budget.

At the Dark Sky Project in Takapō I bought this Great Spotted Kiwi backpack clip as a memento. Not that I saw a kiwi there, I just like to collect these NZ native birds as I travel around. 😁

I did this Online Hearing Test a few years back and have just gone through it again.

Hmmm, having found my previous test results, it looks like my hearing has declined. May be time for a professional test.

Nice to see that a] the beach was still there 🤣 and that b] someone had been having a good time.

I had a wonderful time away on holiday, but am thrilled to be home to my kettle that I can set to the correct temperature for my tea, and my most favourite teas. Ahhhh.

Partly because it's Easter I followed official advice and arrived at Christchurch airport early to allow extra time for security. There is no security screening for my flight to Wellington. LOL

Also changed to an earlier flight so I'll be home earlier.

This is a pleasant and comfortable airport.

My friend Anne and I dressed warmly against the sharp wind in Christchurch at the Travis Wetland.

This morning we enjoyed a pleasant walk around the 119 hectare Ōruapaeroa / Travis Wetland in Christchurch. At some points we had views of the Port Hills.

Athol is a tiny place about half way between Te Anau and Queenstown. It has a very convenient public toilet, a tearooms, and this interesting Memorial Seat for the Returned Services Association.

Back in Takapō for the night. From the back I thought this was a car, but it turns out to be a Mustang Thunderbird touring bike.

Such a cool use of the Internet: Fish Doorbell in Utrecht:

… viewers around the world can watch a livestream of the camera and, when they see a fish, press a doorbell to open the lock allowing the fish the opportunity to continue swimming upstream to their destiny.
