Our household water (rainwater) is now filtered to remove particles and then passed through a UV filter light to kill bacteria, thanks to the Puretec Hybrid G9 system:

Kills 99% of E. Coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts

👍💧

We’ve been concerned lately about E. Coli.

Kiwis: I only just discovered Safe Night. Let’s spread the word and help women get a safe night free of family violence in this dangerous season.

Help the victims of family violence by booking a room for someone you’ll never meet, in a place you’ll hopefully never visit.

The Tribe is a Spanish comedy. It had some adult themes but was fun. Good dancing too. The human resources director of a massive corporation fires 300 people, then is caught on video having sex with an employee. He recovers from amnesia via dance and help from his birth mother.

Sometimes people drive along the beach, which is legally a road for historical reasons, and through the usually shallow river. Sometimes it doesn’t end well. Actually the water round this vehicle is shallow: the car’s been there 24+ hours and has sunk into the sand. 🚘‼️

Almost totally submerged car.

Absolutely magnificent: Rawiri Waititi Maiden Statement. In a very powerful speech, he insisted that Te Tiriti o Waitangi must be honoured, colonialism must end. He spoke of his ancestor who was wrongly hanged. Waititi removed his tie (noose) and replaced it with a tāonga. 🙌🏼

Rawiri Waititi replaces his tie with a Māori cultural item.

So relieved — I’m a ‘daytime sleepy’: — Not Just Morning Larks And Night Owls:

The 6 chronotypes … include the established morning and evening types, along with the 4 new chronotypes: highly active type, daytime sleepy type, daytime active type, and moderately active type.

I really enjoyed chatting with @macgenie on the Voyager Revisited podcast 20: Voyager’s Lower Decks about Good Shepherd, Season 6, Episode 20.

Janeway takes 3 overlooked crew members on an away mission that runs into trouble. Can her leadership skills get them through?

Ahhh, the pack’s complete. Sasha and Oshi welcomed Deb home from work last night. 🐶

Disappointed that this seems to be only in the RSS feed and not the web version — Strong winds, heavy rain causing havoc in Wellington:

Three portaloos have also come loose in the wind and are blowing [away].

Crews are on their way to provide some relief.

This Spanish movie was on thin ice with its premise, but it was very funny. Everyone was odd. 🎬 Lo nunca visto. The village of Fuentejuela de Arriba needs 3 more people to avoid being annexed by their rivals. 4 people turn up, but their cultures are at odds. A surprise ending!

Covid bust one of our major News media companies. The new owner writes: Our Truth, Tā Mātou Pono: Stuff’s day of reckoning:

…we haven’t always been trustworthy …we’ve been outright racist. At other times … we’ve looked through a single, Pākehā, lens. [We will] do better.

So Holiday Rush wasn’t great. The highlight was Sonequa Martin-Green. The children of the family were obnoxious. Better script and editing would have improved things. Not horrible though. 🎬

Spanish? Basque? Swiss? A fictional Castillian village located in Basque Country tries to become part of Switzerland in this rather funny movie The Little Switzerland. 🎬 Differences between English soundtrack and English subtitles were hilarious in their own right.

Now this is a Miss [placename] pageant I could support: > the Miss Navajo Nation pageant, in which contestants must butcher a sheep and cook over an open fire

The Deadly Loss of Navajo Women

Otherwise, a compelling read about Covid-19 and the Diné people.

The genius of genomics: The revolution that helped NZ quash Covid-19: > scientists worked late into the night to match the genetic signature of the latest case to another one.

My Mac Control Centre showed me this photo I took in Niue on 25 August 2016. It really seemed shareworthy. Taken with my Olympus Stylus TG-870.

This was a fun Spanish movie — Netflix ☛ Holy Goalie 🎬. Their monastery is to be turned into a luxury hotel, but a few football matches could save their home. Manages to include car theft, illegal bank transfers, romance, a mob-run nightclub, and breaking a vow of silence. 😀

Excellent! I really really enjoyed this Spanish movie. 🎬 Thi Mai, rumbo a Vietnam

Along with her two friends, a determined woman travels to Vietnam to bring home the young girl her recently deceased daughter had planned to adopt.

Vietnam: so beautiful! Great story, and funny.

I enjoyed the Christmas movie Santa Girl:

When Santa’s daughter, Cassie, gets a chance to experience the real world by attending college, will she ever want to return to her North Pole destiny?

One thing I noticed: did only white folks audition?

Yay: New Zealand Government to declare a climate emergency

The Government will declare a climate emergency … Climate Change Minister James Shaw said.

We are in the midst of a climate crisis that will impact on every aspect of our lives…

Not just ‘change' but ‘emergency’!
