I’ve used the wonderful Pastebot for Mac for the longest time but for some reason only today learned how to use sequential paste. 🤷🏼
There’s something about the opening of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds that grabbed me right by my childhood viewings in the 60s of the Original Series. I got all teary! It took me right back to my childhood when the Space Age was new. ST:TOS was full of excitement, hope, tech etc.
In its second year my Granny Smith apple tree produced 7 apples. One fell off early in the season. I ate one recently. These 5 weigh 1 Kg in total. Very pleasing result. The birds ‘showed’ me they were ready to pick. 😆
That was a treat! Deb made a delicious omelette for breakfast. Yum.
This was an enjoyable read: Death on the Danube: A New Year’s Murder in Budapest (Travel Can Be Murder Cozy Mystery Series Book 1) 📚:
Carl, her fellow tour guide, is found floating in the Danube River. Was it murder or accidental death?
This detail intrigues me:
Two officers from the helicopter ran to the scene and took the seven youths into custody before they could get away.
Seven arrested after helicopter police chase
Two officers arresting 7 people seems pretty impressive to me.
Striding. 🐦
Skating! This little New Zealand dotterel turns out to be banded, when I zoom in. They’re very small, fast birds: 25 cm and about 150 grams. Perfect on the beach: dark upper and white below so you think you’re just seeing shells on sand — till it moves. 🐦

I’m surprised I finished reading Murder by the Book (A Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery 1) by Lauren Elliott. It seemed confused and rushed, had basic logic flaws and the romantic elements were annoying. I’m unlikely to read more in this series. 📚
I very nearly stopped watching Grace and Frankie in the middle of Season 7. It had been so long since the previous episodes aired and it dragged a bit. I’m so glad I stuck with it though. The ending(s) were spot on. So good to see old folk (and excellent actors) on TV. 📺 🥲

Misty morning. Cobweb. Flax spear.
Naughty little House sparrows sitting on the roof (pooping in the gutter that supplies our drinking water). 🐦
Update: the photo I exported at Medium resolution looked terrible. I’ve replaced it with a better version.

Hey southern hemisphere types: do some sky watching over the next few mornings before dawn: The Eta Aquariid Meteor Shower Is About to Light Up The Skies, Here’s How to See It. ☄️
Meanwhile, the Australian coots were having a bit of a dust-up (volume up). 🐦
To my delight, this morning’s walk brought me two Kakīānau, Black swans with 4 cygnets, already swimming. 🐦
Sasha 🐶 was not a cooperative model today, either before grooming or after.

Not too bad to while away a few hours: A Welsh Murder Mystery Box Set Books 1–4 by Cathy Ace 📚:
women of the WISE Enquiries Agency turned their backs on their previous careers to work together to help others.
‘Enquiries’ rather than ‘detecting’ is an interesting notion.
The Alton Brown Shepherd’s Pie I cooked tonight was delicious. The photo doesn’t do it justice.
[Accidentally, while cooking] confirmed the smoke alarm still works. 👍
Touching. Pied Stilt. 🐦
