Signed up for a month of Disney+ to watch a few things. Finally saw and enjoyed and felt moved by Turning Red. One highlight for me: the amazing and beautiful scene near the start of the movie of Mei’s father preparing dinner.
A couple of weeks ago I discovered, installed, paid for Grocery App:
A smart shopping list, recipe manager, meal planner and inventory tracker for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
It’s brilliant! I share recipes and shopping list with Deb now, and it is smart. Thanks @manton
This is a wonderful story for a Sunday morning — The Sunday Essay: A never-ending pot of curry:
As a child in India, Perzen Patel wished for a bowl of her grandmother’s curry that would never run out and always remind her of home. In New Zealand, that wish came true.
I wanted the ‘exoticism’ of this book set in rural Sri Lanka, but the book itself just didn’t grab me. The Body in the Paddy Field (A Sri Lankan Mystery Book 1):
her friend becomes the prime suspect … the only way to help … is to solve the murder before the police.
About 2 hours after high tide, with an open sea swell of 5 metres, and westerly gales so strong they just about knocked me off my feet while I took this photo: the Waikawa Beach estuary, full. And yes, events like this are eroding the dunes quite rapidly.
Look who was groomed today! Sasha so clean and tidy. 🐶

Rachel McAlpine on growing old:
You know so much! From reading, hearing, viewing, and being there. … But which items swell up to become massively important and which ones dwindle away into the distance?
Did you know I went to Mars? You can too: Mars Photo Booth - NASA Mars. 🤣
We’re getting a lot of these at the moment. ⛈

Today’s order of business. ⛈
HIP (on Acorn TV, French) is a really fun show. It’s another where a solo mum of several children solves crimes while wrangling family.
Morgane’s … 160 IQ spoils her life a bit until … Her extraordinary abilities are spotted by the police who offer her a job as a consultant
Hmmm, this video by Jan Wegener, mainly about bird photography, had some very useful info: Take SHARPER Images with ANY camera! No More BLURRY Photos! Tips for Success. One useful point — if the bird’s far away the mass of air between bird and camera reduces sharpness. 🐦📷
I quickly glazed over while looking at About the security of passkeys - Apple Support. Can anyone point me to a “What the heck are Passkeys?, for Dummies” type resource?
Today I helped a very smart friend set up a new Mac laptop with touch ID button. When it came to adding a fingerprint, she’d had a problem before I came along. Turns out she’d interpreted the instructions on screen as an invitation to touch the screen itself. Confusing UI!
Deb and I enjoyed watching the all too brief Season One of Annika. No word if there’ll be another season, so fingers crossed.
Annika is a British crime drama TV series… Annika Strandhed is a Detective Inspector in … the Glasgow Marine Homicide Unit.
Soon after I spent up large on a Fujinon XF100-400mm F4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR zoom lens for taking photos of birds, Fuji have come out with an even bigger and only slightly more expensive lens: Fujifilm Announces The New XF150-600mm Lens. Sigh. Still, the lens I have is superb!
Thank you sunrise, light shower and iPhone for this early morning rainbow. 😀
Realised when I opened my MacBook Pro this morning that WWDC keynote was live. Tuned in as I do every year. Actually closed the tab again within 30 seconds as it just felt way too hypey. Plus, I’m not planning on buying anything anyway. I’ll catch up on announcements via TidBITS.
Today’s main feature: a splitting headache, eased in the end by a one hour deep sleep in the afternoon. 🤕
Gorgeous 5 Km beach walk to start my Sunday. Thanks to all those on my overnight Micro.Blog timeline who mentioned going for a walk: it helped get me out of bed and into the frosty morning.
