Yay. Our building company uses a service called BuilderTrend. They started sharing photos of our new build with us. 🏡

All the empty land behind and beside our new place will eventually have houses on it, but until then we get a bit of a view.

The company that remodeled my house used BuilderTrend, too. Project manager may not have had an artist's sensibility or frankly a very good camera, but it was wonderful to see concrete evidence of progress on the regular.

@hjalm We're so far away it feels vital. Glad to hear it worked for you.

exciting! Watching building progress can be lots of fun… but also frustrating when they don't do much for a while.

@dejus Yet, those fits and starts were really upsetting on the place we currently live in. Our house was supposed to be built in a factory over 6 weeks then shipped down for the interior work. Instead they built it on-site and it was 12 months before it was complete. The builder in charge was … well, let's say I'd never give him any work again and I'd advise friends to steer clear too.

that's very frustrating. Sometimes hard to know if a builder is any good. Though I guess that's better nowadays, with online reviews. When we were building a house back in 1998ish, we were able to visit the site, but often nothing had happened for a week or two.
