Well, at long last it's official — all signed up for a land and house package at Ruakākā on the east coast, a 20 minute drive south of Whangārei.
We expect to be living there by this time in 2025. 🏡
David Sinclair congrats! Up that way is on our list for possible locations if we ever move back to NZ. How much land?

Miraz Jordan @crossingthethreshold There's a lot at Waikawa Beach to miss — the peace and quiet, the space, the birds — so that'll be a wrench. But I'm looking forward to new adventures. We'll still be by the beach and near a river and it's fairly rural.

Miraz Jordan @odd Thanks Odd. I'm hoping to find good bird life up there. There's a bird sanctuary at the river mouth and another only a few Km away.
Miraz Jordan @ddanielson Yup, nearly the top of this island. We'll be up in the subtropics so we're expecting mosquitoes and storms. We've talked about a move of some sort for several years now. It's taken us a while to be ready to move and to choose a location.

Miraz Jordan @JohnPhilpin We've been toying with the idea of moving north for years. The world has turned and the time has come. Lots of smaller things have finally nudged us to it. We have friends in Whangārei and after initially looking at Ngunguru we finally found a place at Ruakākā, which seems like our kind of place.

Miraz Jordan @odd Hmmm, we're moving from roughly -40.69, 175.14 to roughly -35.87, 174.46 — about 550 Km in a straight line.
Odd-Egil “Oddzthrash” Auran That’s more than 5°s. That must be a considerable difference. The farthest I’ve moved is about three degrees, (63,44° N, to 59,93° N), (Stjørdal to Oslo), and the weather is quite different. It’s about 550km by road.

Miraz Jordan @V_ I'm thinking a category on here would be a good idea. One useful thing is the builder has a portal with at minimum weekly updates, photos, videos etc so we can watch from afar.
