I'm so naive sometimes. I had no idea individuals would have helipads on their houses. I'm shocked — Auckland residents unite against multimillionaire Anna Mowbray's helipad plan | RNZ News:
If the helipad is approved, it will become the ninth helipad in a residential area of the city. … There has also been opposition to helicopter pads on Waiheke Island, where the number has jumped to 60, and there are at least nine on Aotea/Great Barrier Island.

Other things that make no sense to me is flying helicopters everywhere. The odds of dying per trip is so high at 1 in 100,000 trips. So it's about 4x more dangerous than a private jet, and 800x more dangerous than flying commercial

Miraz Jordan @jade Sounds about right. They're such a disruptive mode of transport too — noisy, in particular! I see them as a necessary thing for certain purposes, like emergency rescue, for example, but not as an everyday mode of transport for rich folks.
