Back in September 2017 I came across this little cutie on a driftwood log on the beach. The Kekeno | New Zealand Fur Seal pups often come ashore on our stretch of beach to rest during winter and spring. I haven't ever seen more than one at a time though.
Doesn't it look happy in the sun!

@jabel As the dogs aged and were less able to walk far I haven't been on the beach so often and in the last couple of years haven't spotted any seals. I'm hoping that will change now I can get back to the beach for longer walks more often.

When we traveled to the California coast last year I fell in love with sea lions. I know people who live around them don't necessarily love them, but I have good memories of watching them early one morning while I drank too much coffee.

@jabel I've discovered I love watching wildlife. Not something younger me really paid much attention to.

The act of sitting still for several hours and just observe what happens around you is something that is definitely underrated.

@jemostrom On a brief walk amongst trees the other day my companion got well ahead of me. I think she was aiming for the end; I was looking all around, listening and trying to take it in as well as watching where my feet were going, so was much slower.
