Amazing: we’re under a Strong Wind Warning here in Horowhenua yet it’s barely a bad weather day as yet. A bit grey, almost no wind, a few drops of rain. Meanwhile elsewhere up country there are 12 States of Emergency, flood, slips, gales and worse from Ex Cyclone Gabrielle.

And exactly while I was writing that the government declared a National State of Emergency.

What gets me is that it was only a couple of weeks ago Auckland was hit by those massive floods! Climate change really coming home to roost 😓

and talking about climate change .. another piece from Hickey that is more than a little concerning.

@jayeless Yes, it's devastating. There's a huge amount of destruction north of us, but we just have a bit of a rainy day. Honestly, I don't know how Aotearoa New Zealand can afford these kinds of disasters.

@JohnPhilpin We're just having a minor bit of rain — the deck isn't even properly wet. You must be in the thick of it though! Hope all's well for you.

Actually I am not. Jax is though. I am in the USA at the moment. Literally left the night before the first round you guys had!
