I must say, 1Password has always worked brilliantly and easily for me … until the latest version (8). Now it’s an utter pain in the bum and I have to dance around all over the show, manually opening it, searching for passwords, copying them etc (not all sites). What the heck? 😡

i havent looked at 8 but I was worried it was not going to be as easy to use. Have used since v2

@gpittman I wanted to email the developers but Feedback just got me to the Forums. 😒

@tomc What used to be essentially seamless just somehow doesn't work properly. Windows I need hide behind other windows, I keep reading my fingerprint and then it keeps not accepting it, unlocking with my watch just doesn't. It's become massively clumsy. As I walked the dog this morning I was wondering about reverting to v7.

or you can try out Secrets. At least, that’s what I did.. and I’m pretty happy with it. Bonus feature: no subscription, but a one time purchase!

@ArnoldHoogerwerf Interesting. Thanks, I'm giving it a try. I only just paid for another year of 1P so I guess I've got plenty of time to sort out what to do. 😀

Yes I have deliberate ignored all the messages about the benfits of 8 and steadfastly going to stick with 7 until they unplug me! :) I hear Keychain has improved but got frustrated with it some time ago and never went back. But maybe that needs further investigation.

@ArnoldHoogerwerf Oooh that looks interesting.. I might have a look at that before november when my sub comes up. Thx for heads up.

I'm slowly migrating across to Secrets. I used it once before, but decided to return to 1Password. I've been with 1Password since the beginning and I think that it was just familiarity that brought me back. I've experienced a syncing hiccup with Secrets, nothing that prevented my information syncing across to iOS from my Mac, just a hiccup. The developer has been responsive in helping to find out what is going on.

@crossingthethreshold I've entered a few passwords in Secret to test with, and once I understood better how it worked that has gone well.

@crossingthethreshold You’re right that Secrets had a few bugs here and there, especially with the syncing part and with Auto Fill. But the latest updates made all those nuisances disappear completely. It now ‘just works’. Totally worth the money. (And of course, it also feels good to support indie developers. 1Password lost that indie feel a long time ago already…)
