It seems the Hunga eruption in Tonga was a one-in–1000-year event:
Radiocarbon dating suggested one major eruption of this scale occurred about AD1100 and another in AD200
And we heard it here at Waikawa Beach, 2,500 Km away. 🌋

And there are Tsunami "alerts" (I think that's the term of art) all along the U.S. West Coast.

@ReaderJohn We have coastal warnings in place along parts of the coast, complicated by the proximity of ex-Tropical Cyclone Cody.

Any relationship between the volcanic eruption to your east and the earthquake in Indonesia to your west? Seems like an odd coincidence — if it is a coincidence.
