Yesterday I learned a good lesson about getting the right light for photos of birds on a lake. 🐦 I went back in the afternoon and managed to ‘catch’ the New Zealand dabchick and the New Zealand scaup.



Gorgeous! I don't think we have birds as beautiful as those here in the US... if we do, definitely not here.

@cambridgeport90 😀 I admire the US birds I see posted here and elsewhere as they seem to be so colourful! Most of our birds are pretty drab really. The native birds had no ground-based predators and generally needed to blend in with the ground so aerial predators didn't see them so well.
