With the thought that my iPhone is my most often used camera I’ve decided to go big and upgrade from iPhone 11 to iPhone 13 Pro Max. Yesterday I ordered a blue one. I may even also sell my underused iPad and Pencil to help fund it. I hope the camera’s worth it!

pretty much the same justification for me as well. Also expecting a battery life boost going max

@tkoola I'm wondering if the big phone will replace the handful of things I use my iPad Pro for: mainly when I'm in bed to watch stuff, read RSS and Micro.Blog, check (but not write) email.

yes, I can imagine it being good or big enough for ibook reading. I am surprised how excited I am to get it.

I was just starting to think in the opposite direction. Considering going from iPhone 11 to iPhone Mini 13 this time. But the Pro camera system (especially the tele lens and the new macro feature) might be the one reason to decide otherwise…🤔

@ArnoldHoogerwerf I'm really enjoying taking photos these days, and am actively learning about taking bird photos (for which I have a Fuji X-T2 with telephoto). But I don't have the Fuji with me all the time, unlike my phone. And I love new Apple toys. 😈

I have a hard time resisting the camera improvements. Macro slo-mo! 3x telephoto! And with the Apple Upgrade Program, it’s easy to keep paying a monthly loan amount that is the same.
Apparently Sierra Blue caught the eye of a lot of us. 💙

@jean wish we have that program here as well. That Macro and 3X are just difficult to ignore.

@jean 😀 I wish we had the Apple Upgrade Program and the thing you seem to have where you can trade in a device towards a new one. I'll be selling my iPhone 11 on our local marketplace after the new one arrives. Also buying outright from savings…

It is pretty awesome. But addictive. I had a notion to hold onto the 12 for another year to own it outright, but it’s just so easy to just say “yes” to an annual trade-in.
When I first joined the program, I did the numbers and it seemed reasonable. I never recheck my calculations anymore.

@yorrike 2nd gen Pencil. The one that magnetically attaches to the iPad to charge etc.

@Pilchuck I’m my defense, my MacBook Pro is 4.5 years old, and I skipped from Watch Series 0 to Series 5. And I am 💯 not upgrading my six-year-old iPad mini. No no no no. 🙉🙈

@Pilchuck @jean Oh no, the numbers are super important for me. I'm looking at what to sell that I don't actually need any more to put towards this new, grander, device.

@jean I finally upgrade my iPad mini 4, as I was able to get $150 trade in value for it. So there is something to think about before the trade in value declines….

How much would you be willing to part with it for, if you do end up selling it?

@yorrike Let's email about this: miraz@firstbite.nz . Make an offer… Barely used, just charged from time to time.

@dsh1705 Wow, that is more than expected, maybe I should price a new one…. Wait! Why are you telling me this???

@rom I have no idea what 5G really is, even thought my phone keeps telling me I have it. I have stopped listening.

@mejh I still haven’t made up my mind, but I’m leaning towards the iPhone Mini again. Another thing that may still hold me back could be going back to a slightly smaller keyboard…
