Ugh. We sold a laptop with a troubled history — described as accurately as we could. We believed it was working fine. 3 weeks after purchase the buyer is disputing, claiming the Touch Bar doesn’t work. Breaking my brain considering what is right and proper and how to resolve.

Sold online or in-person? Three weeks is a long time and if you described the state of the laptop before selling, you’re in the clear.

@gpittman Thanks. And @pratik They say they only started using it 3 weeks after purchase then noticed a problem. It may end up at a Disputes hearing (a small claims court with no lawyers and a mature arbiter). I absolutely don't want to defraud anyone and I feel sorry for the buyer but I don’t know that there's a way to decide the truth. Did we sell without realising this fault? Did the fault develop after the sale? Who knows?

You acted honestly and in good faith. Hopefully the arbitrator will see that. I hope you get a good resolution!
