It takes ages but I’ve got time… I like setting up a new Mac afresh as it gives me the chance to reevaluate settings and apps, and even what files I need. Do I really need work I did in 2010 at my fingertips, or could it just be archived? Going minimal…

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I haven't really minded reinstalling elementary OS every time a new major version has come out. I get to start from fresh with apps and only put back what I still use, and I'm sure I relieve myself of a lot of cruft (caches, outmoded config files, etc.) every time, too.

@jayeless It's great to leave behind all that stuff, like apps you never actually use or the random files they installed. I'm in a phase of cleaning up and clearing out. Feels good.

oh, I like this! I'm reviving a very old mac mini (as soon as the external SSD arrives in the post) and I'm really looking forward to a fresh start. I should really review my files as well. So much digital hoarding!

enjoyed setting up the M1 MBP from scratch. No crumbs and crud from deleted apps. :)
