ROFL: “Well I’m Australian and you’re wrong.”
A favourite quote from Martin Feld. 39. International Mac Nerds with Special Guests Andrew Canion and Jason Burk — Lounge Ruminator

@canion @martinfeld I enjoyed the episode. It's been a while sinvce I listened to a bunch of blokes talk about tech, but it was interesting, and coherent. Thanks. @Burk

@canion @martinfeld @burk In principle, a bunch of blokes talking about tech is exactly the kind of thing I should be trying to avoid, but I enjoyed this, particularly the BeOS nostalgia.

@artkavanagh “because I fetishised productivity” - I have been guilty of this in the past. Now, I value productivity tools because they keep me on the straight and narrow - not because I can extract another unit of labour in an equivalent time period. Thanks for listening!

@artkavanagh This is a fantastic piece of yours and I COMPLETELY agree with the need to be critical of continuing digital inequality and what our technology does to Earth. I think that you’d find this clip ‘Data and Oil’ by Sy Taffel quite interesting.
On the other hand, thank you for listening to us and it’s a good reminder for us not to be seduced by the marketed benefits of technology all the time.

@martinfeld Thanks, Martin. That Sy Taffel clip is indeed interesting — I think I may need to watch it once or twice more to digest the argument properly. I’m looking forward to future Lounge Ruminator episodes.

@canion I understand your position completely but it doesn’t work for me, unfortunately. I find that things go better if I forget about optimizing my time, and don’t try to get the most out of every block of the calendar. Trying to do so just makes me anxious unnecessarily.

@artkavanagh Oh yes, Taffel's clip is dense; the information just hits you. Thanks again for listening to my podcast!
