Really interesting 26 minute interview with Geena Davis:
A report by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, 15 years in the making, has just revealed that gender parity in children’s television has been achieved. But that doesn’t mean her work is done.

I remember seeing her give a speech at the All About Women event in Sydney a couple of years ago and at the time, she shared that most Hollywood films only included around 17% female characters. I may be slightly off but the ongoing disparity was quite alarming.

@martinfeld She did talk about the continuing disparity in films, in particular. I think that parity is for kids stuff. She also mentioned how TV seems to be ahead of movies.

Ah I see... I believe the argument that TV is ahead of movies. There’s a lot more exciting stuff happening in TV... just more room for extended storytelling in general.
