I thought I spotted a dog emerging from the dunes. But No! It was the first seal pup of the season. I scrambled to leash the dogs and get the camera out, but the pup took its time. I hadn't known they went all the way up to the dunes.
Miraz Jordan @pratik 😀 Not only do I personally want no harm to come to the seals (or dogs), NZ law protects seals and we have to stay at least, umm, 20 metres? away and there are steep fines for causing injury to the seals. The biggest problem is they can 'sneak up' on you, eg by looking just like a bit of the plentiful driftwood we have around here.
