I really enjoyed Elseworlds parts 1 & 2 under the show names of Flash and Arrow. But part 3, under the name of Supergirl, was all about the boys, extra boys even. Supergirl barely even had a role. Pretty darn perturbing!

I think in a number of the crossovers they have struggled to use her (and certainly the rest of the SG cast) well, but you’re right, it was especially noticeable this time, and the structure of the story didn’t lend itself well to a big role for her.
I wonder if it would have been better if all of the shows switched timeslots (at least here in the US) so it went Flash-Supergirl-Arrow, and had the middle, now-Supergirl-in-name, hour be mostly Earth-38 and Gotham, where Supergirl had a bigger presence? (Also, with all of the hype over Batwoman, she was only in a couple of scenes…)

I liked the little story arc between SuperGirl and her alternate universe sister.

@smokey Yes, lots of factors going on there. Supergirl seems to have drifted a bit and had several episodes where she's been very much in the background. It's as though writers (I'll blame them because I don't know where the blame does belong) can't sustain the notion of woman / women being front and centre.

@cheri Yes, that was fun. And Alex looked so prissy with that long hair. Good to see that sisterhood conquers all. 😀

@cheri Agreed, that was a great little arc—they’ll connect in any universe!—but (I think this supports Miraz’s initial point), it felt like 1) the only thing that KD/SG did that episode and 2) the writers invented it to give her something to do while O&B were out superheroing-with-no-powers/tools and deus-ex-machina-ing that other (guest-star) guy into solving most of the problems.

I wonder if the introduction of all the new characters this season (both regulars and recurring) and the major shift in David Harewood’s character has “forced” the writers to shift some of the time/focus from Supergirl to letting us know/learn about the new/changed folks? (And in particular in comparison to last year, all of Sam Witwer’s character’s development has taken place removed from the rest of the characters, whereas Odette Annable’s character was developed right smack in the middle of that nexus of main female characters, with Kara/Lena/Alex, last year.) That said, of course, even if that provides an alternate why to these problems, it’s still the writers’ fault they are unable to solve the problems of their own creation in a more satisfying way ;-)
