Last night Sasha 🐶 had to go out about midnight then started being restless again, wandering round the house. I put on a little solar powered lamp as a nightlight, put her back on the bed and she settled till morning. Maybe the lamp helped? I think she can see some light.

Lying awake in the night sped me through this very good read: Next in Line (Detective Clare Mackay Book 5) by Marion Todd 📚

Clare wonders why no one who knew Russell seems capable of telling the truth, and whether there is more than one person with a reason to want him dead…

We had a difficult night with Sasha the dog 🐶 who is almost 15, pretty much blind, and hard of hearing. It may be a signal she has dementia. She was restless all night, pacing, barking, wanting out (but not really), on the bed, off the bed. She couldn’t settle. Vet visit planned.

An author, some of whose books I enjoy, wants to be helpful and send customers to the ‘right’ Amazon Store, based on geolocation. She’s not the only author to do this. It infuriates me! I use US Amazon not Aus. I end up at the wrong store then have to mess about to fix things. 📚

Bookliner forces me to a store I don't want.

A pleasant read: Swamp Sweets (Miss Fortune Mysteries Book 21) by Jana DeLeon 📚

Book cover: Swamp Sweets.

My favourite time, when cabbage trees flower — those white panicles. Their perfume is utterly gorgeous.

Don’t Choose Extinction:

At least we had an asteroid. What’s your excuse?

I had an idea, worked on it with a friend and today we’re launching a summer photo event for Waikawa Beach: Wow Waikawa! Folks submit photos that show the delight of Waikawa Beach, we print some and put them up over summer. It’s been fun getting things ready.

Feature request, @manton — today, using the web interface, I hit Post instead of Add Photo. Then I had to go back and mess about to add the pic. I realised the Post button should be alone on the right. I think it makes more sense to move the other buttons to group with Preview.

This 5 minute video was really interesting: Why Some Fruits Won’t Ripen On Your Counter:

Trying to ripen some fruits on your kitchen counter is totally fruitless - here’s why.

Tonight the mountain peak directly east of us was absolutely luminous in the sunset.

Wow. A word puzzle led me to discover Yma Sumac, 1932-2008, a Peruvian singer with a range of at least four and a half octaves. Listen to Yma Sumac sings Queen of the Night and Clair de Lune. I’d never heard of her before.

My Granny Smith Apple tree is covered in blossom. That’s good for the bees. 🐝

I like this Wind Turbine Wall idea:

Designed to be as aesthetically pleasing as it is functional, this “kinetic wall” is made up of an array of rotary blades that spin individually, driving a mini generator that creates electricity.

I love TextExpander. Used it for years. Setting up a new email address for the local Association. I type the trigger and now I can choose the old email address or the new. This is one of my most essential apps.

Apple Mail is OK, but I’ve sent emails from the wrong account because Mail chose the sender on my behalf. I need to be more in charge. This tip helps:

select a ‘dummy’ account for the default ‘from’ account, then disable that account

A brilliant book by a favourite author: Unbreakable by Cari Hunter. 📚

Dr. Grace Kendal never stands a chance. The injured woman comes out of nowhere, bleeding heavily and holding a gun. Compelled to help her, Grace is dragged into Elin Breckenridge’s nightmare.

Short on sleep this morning, so my brain cells are groggy. Not convenient when I have a committee meeting for Waikawa Beach Ratepayers Association to attend, with a long agenda.
