Well, well, well. I spotted the photo below with its caption about a new tsunami siren at Ruakākā. When I checked the map it turns out it will be … right next door to our new house. 😆
At least I guess we'll be the first to know about a tsunami, and won't fail to hear the warning.

Christopher Wilson how common are tsunamis? I don’t remember hearing of any but maybe news just didn’t reach me (or I forgot). It’s definitely the type of thing I’d rather have and never need though than not have but need!

Miraz Jordan @ChrisJWilson Tsunami are rare, though actually there was one the other day, as it happens, at the very bottom of the South Island after a massive quake offshore. The tsunami was only 10 cm. In 1855 there was a tsunami on the North Island East Coast that reached a max 11 metres at one location. www.geonet.org.nz/tsunami/s... .
