I prefer my own company to groups, so what induced me to organise a community Star Viewing tonight? These are things I’m hoping we can find / look at:
- Sirius
- Orion
- Orion Nebula
- Taurus
- Pleiades
- Mars
- Southern Cross
- Large and Small Magellanic Clouds
- Beehive Cluster
- Milky Way.

at certain times of the year, we can see the southern cross from Hawaii island. It helps to be at altitude and it has to be very clear. It pops up just above the horizon.

Oh, hope there will be photos! Are you so far from the nearest town that there will be minimal light pollution?

@odd There is indeed minimal light pollution. Probably won't be photos though. We'll be naked eye or handheld binoculars. It's sunset in about 10 minutes so I'm off soon.

@odd We're going on the beach to avoid streetlights and to get a clear western horizon and a pretty clear north horizon.
