Yikes. All of that information could have been conveyed in a way that was more evocative and less hurried.

@ReaderJohn LOL. Didn't want to slam the author. That's definitely not the only book I've put aside on account of adjective overload.

@Lynessence Self-published book so may not have had the benefit of an editor type person.

There's a way to write without losing any of the evocativeness and still be better. I know some luminaries of self-publishing are all, "Seriously, pay for an editor," and now I see why.

@JohnPhilpin I mean to say that if all this descriptive detail is important, it can be included (in separate sentences, at other points in the story) and the prose still clarified.
