Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield has confirmed the country’s first case of the Omicron variant has been found at a MIQ facility in Christchurch.
Jessica Smith Omicron has already leaked into the community here, and case numbers are skyrocketing (in NSW they're doubling every 2–3 days, and I doubt we're far behind…) 😔 Sincerely hoping you guys can keep it contained in quarantine.
Jai Shukla @jayeless In the U.K. the R-rate for omicron they think is between 3 and 5. Should be an interesting few weeks, we are ploughing through this time it seems, no plans for any further lockdown.
Jessica Smith @jaitalking Yeah, in NSW they had the bad look of announcing the end of most remaining public health restrictions, AND that cases there would reach 25,000 per day next month, on the same day… I'm genuinely very anxious about what the next few weeks hold 😔
