Excellent! Aotearoa New Zealand has free health care for all but the system was run down over a long time by conservative governments and was a shambles. Improvement is coming — overhaul of health system
shift focus in all areas from treatment to wellbeing, the report said.

I’m so happy they’re doing away with elected DHBs. No one knows what makes a good DHB member. It’s ridiculous to ask the public to make that decision.

@yorrike Yes, ridiculous! Last time I voted I looked at the bios for signs of anti-vax, anti-fluoride etc so I knew who to rank last. And ranking votes for members!!!

@yorrike I know people who based hosuing decisions at least in part on which DHB they'd be part of. Eg Wellingtons DHB, whatever its called, versus the rumoured to be dreadful Mid-Central (where we live).

Yep, we’re in Mid-Central too, being in Palmy and all. We’ve not had much to do with the DHB here, but they seem fine. The issue I have in Palmy is there’s no local family doctors like there are all over Wellington, it’s all mass clinics with a dozen doctors which are all over subscribed.
Looking forward to being back in Wellington when we can go back to a local family practice where the next available appointment isn’t 2 weeks away.
