Hmmm, things that are a bad idea: letting WordPress create a URL that includes an emoji. I realised just after I’d pressed Publish. Thank goodness for a .htaccess redirect.

You might check out @johnjohnston’s Microblogging functions; he’s got one to automatically prevent/strip emoji from the URLs as part of the publishing process.

@smokey Thanks for the link. I'll see if it's relevant to that particular WordPress blog I run which has nothing to do with Micro.Blog. Although I sometimes publish links to that blog from my Love Waikawa Beach Micro.Blog-hosted site.

There’s nothing inherently Micro.blog-specific about that particular emoji-stripping function (#9); it just happens to be part of his microblogging workflow, so it lives with all of those others.
